  • What a beautiful cafe! Had really nice cake and tea for a reasonable price. Sat admiring beautiful decor and listening to a lovely young man playing the piano and singing. What a treat! The museum is great too - too much to see on one visit!

  • I visited the café inside the V&A Museum and was genuinely stunned by its beautiful interior. The colourful ceramic tiles, detailed patterns, sculptures, and stained-glass windows create an elegant and historic atmosphere — it really is a stunning space to sit in. I ordered a small pot of Earl Grey tea and a carrot and walnut cake, which were served on a paper plate with temporary cutlery, and the total came to £9.70. For that price, I believe I could have had better quality food and a nicer dining experience in a hotel. The café was also extremely crowded and noisy, and the food felt overpriced for what it was. Because of that, some of the charm was lost, and it felt more like a commercial operation than a relaxing museum café. It’s still a beautiful spot to take a short break after exploring the V&A, but I wouldn’t come here specifically for the food.

  • Exquisite decoration. Nice tea. Lovely to make a stop while wondering around the museum. It is self service, that is the only downside. Highly recommended. Look up the ceiling to admire the chandeliers

  • Went here after seeing travel videos featuring it on YouTube. The architecture truly is amazing. There's the main room in the middle that's the most beautiful one and 2 more on either side of it that are nice, but not as impressive. That being the case, the main room is packed and the only open seating we found was in one of the less pretty rooms off to the side. It's nice that you don't have to go through the entire V&A museum to get access to the cafe, although we did go through a small part of the Buddhist section. I liked that, though, because we still got a taste of the museum. We came around 1 hour to closing, 4pm, so there weren't long lines to get our food. It's cafeteria style and the 2 stalls I saw facing each other were selling the same thing. We got to try scones for the first time which I liked better than the mango & raspberry cake I also ordered which was too sweet. The prices are reasonable. For 2 desserts and 2 drinks between 2 people it came to around $22 total, so around $11 each. Even the bathroom was nice, but I noticed they made the majority of the stalls and sinks available to the public be the more modern ones while the really pretty old fashioned one only had a few stalls. Afterwards, we wandered into the central courtyard and admired the architecture. Overall, it was a good experience. Just don't expect to sit in the really pretty main room, which is why I went there in the first place and I'm sure many other people do, too.

  • The architecture is amazing which was the reason for our visit. The atmosphere was chill and easy - perhaps because we went during off peak (?). We just had coffee so can’t comment on the food. Our flat white was alright, not the best but not bad either. Overall all good to visit once to see the architecture

  • Fabulous surroundings to have a bite to eat it just coffee and cake. Several places to get served, can get busy at lunchtime. If you just want a coffee it is quicker to get served outside in the garden. Excellent choice of cakes on offer. Recommended.

  • Its situated inside the V&A museum which is free. The cafe has three halls with lots of tables. One in the middle where the big ball lighting and piano is situated in and one on each side. Each room has a different feel and look and the athmosphere is amazing. There is plenty of pastry and hot drinks menu options, and the coffee is really good! The scones were really fresh and is served with usual jam and cream.
